HOW DOES IT WORK? The revolutionary technology of photocatalytic oxidation (PCO technology) was originally developed by NASA and includes the irradiation of a metal surface coated with a metal oxide that contains UV light to produce hydroxyl radicals and superoxide ions. As a result, chemicals in the air that come into contact with it can be broken down into smaller compounds until only carbon dioxide and water vapor remain. In this way a wide range of chemicals can be broken down in the air without producing harmful by-products.
