HOW DOES IT WORK? The revolutionary technology of photocatalytic oxidation (PCO technology) was originally developed by NASA and includes irradiated a metal surface, coated with a metal oxide containing a UV light to produce hydroxyl radicals and superoxide ions. This allows chemicals in the air that come into contact with it can be broken down until smaller compounds remain until only carbon dioxide and water vapor remain. In this way, a wide range of chemicals in the air can be broken down without producing harmful by-products.
